
Launching Your Own UV Lamp Brand: The Stuff Nobody Tells You About Quartz
Once you stop buying generic bulbs and decide to launch your own brand, everything changes. You stop shopping for “products” and start obsessing over specs. When you’re getting into wholesale production, your entire reputation basically rides on two things: the quartz envelope and how the electrodes are set up.
Let’s talk about the quartz
Here’s the thing about glass: standard glass is useless for UVC. It just blocks the light. That’s why we use high-purity fused quartz. If you’re building something for sterilization or curing resins, the transmission rate of that tube is what actually determines if your product works or fails. Now, we can play around with the wall thickness depending on your pressure needs. But there’s a trade-off. Thinner walls let more UV light through, which is great, but they’re fragile. One wrong move during installation and snap—there goes your tube. You have to find that sweet spot between a compact design and a bulb that won’t break the moment a customer touches it.
Power, plugs, and the heat problem
Your customers will judge your brand by one thing: does the lamp stay on? We build these tubes to hit specific voltage and wattage numbers so they play nice with your ballast. Whether you’re using R7s, Sk15, or some custom pinch-seal ends, that connection has to be rock solid. If it’s loose, you get arcing. And arcing leads to a dead bulb way sooner than it should. Plus, there’s the heat. If you try to cram higher wattage into a shorter tube to get more intensity, the heat density spikes. It gets hot. Really hot. If that happens, your customers are going to need heavy-duty heat sinks or fans to keep the electrodes from frying.
Making it your own
When we talk about OEM, we aren’t talking about just slapping your logo on a cardboard box. That’s the easy part. The real work is the technical alignment. You tell us the wavelength you need and how long you want the bulb to last, and we tweak the gas fill and the electrode materials to make it happen. We can also make drop-in replacements. This means your branded lamps will slide right into the machinery your customers already own without them having to rewire everything.
