Getting the Light Right
If your output isn’t consistent, your lamp is basically a paperweight. Depending on what you’re doing—whether it’s scrubbing a surface clean with UVC or curing adhesives with UVA—the gas mix and the electrodes have to be spot on. We use high-purity synthetic quartz because it lets the light through without fighting it. When you use cheap glass with impurities, the UV energy gets trapped and turns into heat inside the tube.**That’s what kills your lamp.**Simple as that.
The Heat Struggle
High-wattage lamps get hot. Really hot. We’ve seen way too many lamps fail because the end-caps couldn’t handle the stress of turning on and off. They expand, they shrink, and eventually, they snap. We spent a lot of time engineering our seals to stop gas from leaking at those pinch points. But you’ve got a part to play here, too. Keep an eye on your cooling. If your airflow is off, a high-density lamp will absolutely bake your reflector. We usually suggest keeping air moving at about 2-5 m/s across the tube. If the quartz overheats, your spectral peak shifts, and suddenly your process isn’t working anymore.
